Name meaning:

Torloisk - burnt hill.

Introduction:

Iain farms over 1000 blackface ewes on Torloisk on the wild west coast of Mull. He also runs his farm as a monitor farm to help other island farmers share best practice and improve the quality of the lambs that they produce.

Points of Interest:

The burnet moth, which relies on sheep grazing, is present in numbers and Iain farms to attract the Slender Scotch Burnet Moth over from Ulva. He also uses methods to attract corncrakes and Marsh Frittillary Butterflies.
